Why?

I wanted a smart home solution without tying into some crappy subscription that will increase year on year, so what do you do, you make your own because you're ambitious! So I have started exactly that. I want to be able to control, gather metrics and have a real-time status/information of anything and everything in my house i.e. blinds, temperature, cameras etc.

What is it?

A Hass.io automation hub which utilises multiple home-made gadgets. The gadgets are little IoT devices that I will make from scratch including soldering of components, coding and 3d printing enclosures.

What I did?

Below is a list of all of the things I have implemented/created;

• Dockerised Hass.io implementation
• Mosquitto MQTT Broker
• 3x Temperature Sensor - custom gadget containing a DHT11, 18650 battery and a Wemos D1-Mini, case to do
• ... more will be added at a later date when more to add!

What did you learn?

A whole heap! I will add more to this as time goes on!
