13. Loss

Loss. Lose. Gone. Forgotten. Not there. Missing. All of these are phrases to represent something that is no longer there, something that is now lost, something that you are now at a loss of. Loss covers a vast spectrum of fuckery, which can start from losing your keys right through to losing a significant person in your life. Whatever the loss, it still makes you feel something. You still get that weird energy floating with you that something isn't quite right.

If I ask you what does loss mean to you, what is the first thing that pops into your head? Is it a person, a pet or even the fiver that you had this morning?

Follow on from, that how do you feel about that loss, what does it do to you, how has it changed the way you think, the way you act, the way you approach the rest of your day, year or life?

Dependent on the loss, it can and really does fuck you up, to what scale is unknown but we all deal with loss differently. We all develop coping mechanisms. We all have our go to that helps us feel alright for a brief moment. Just know that it is going to be okay, that you will move forward, not forget but be able to do you again.

Another feature of loss is the sheer power it unleashes. How that power can and does impact such an array of people in just an instant is something beyond our comprehension. That power is enough to change you for the rest of your life, enough to physically interrupt your days, your mentality and much, much more.

In a weird messed up sense, dealing with a loss opens up avenues such as realisation, regret, and even nostalgia. All of these feelings and more are opened like a can of beans. You question anything and everything, even over things that don't need questioning but you still will and do.

I can go on and on about this topic but I'm not going to bore you, what I will say though is that, still continue to do you, take the loss in your stride and make them proud and to know that 'it's going to be okay' ... no matter how cliche that sounds it and you will be.

In the words of Spock... 'live long and prosper!'
